The negotiators “decided to establish four working groups: for the lifting of sanctions, nuclear affairs, reconstruction and economic development, as well as for monitoring and implementation,” state news agency IRNA said, citing Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi.

The first round of peace talks between the US and Iran took place in Switzerland over the weekend. The delegations were led by Vance and the head of the Iranian parliament, Mohammad Báker Kálibaf. The negotiations followed last week’s conclusion of a memorandum of understanding to end the war in the Middle East.

Mediators from Pakistan and Qatar announced that Tehran and Washington had agreed on a course of action during the talks that should lead to a final agreement within 60 days. They initially reported that further technical negotiations were to continue in Bürgenstock, Switzerland for the rest of the week.
