Vienna – Even though heat waves are reaching Austria more and more often before the summer holidays, schools are not “heat-free” above certain temperatures due to the childcare obligation. According to the ministry, first attempts must be made to ensure reasonable teaching with “less severe measures” – for example by moving classes to cooler places or purchasing fans. In principle, school leave can only be given if the school building is “unusable”.
