Styrian suit regionalism meets communist social nostalgia: bipolar Styria


When elections are held next Sunday in Austria’s second-largest city, around 225,000 people from Graz will vote on the continued existence of a dark red-green-red coalition that has ruled the Murstadt for five years. The exciting question is whether Graz will remain the second part of a politically bipolar Styria, i.e. characterized by ideological differences, or whether the reign of the KPÖ will go down in the history books as a flash in the pan.
