US Post Office threatened with insolvency, calls for government aid

Washington – The US Postal Service (USPS) is facing an acute financial crisis due to dramatic losses and could soon be insolvent without comprehensive reform, according to postal chief David Steiner. He told a US Senate committee on Wednesday that the agency’s business model was no longer working. The post office urgently needs help from Congress. She has to borrow the money for ongoing operations from her employees’ pension funds.
