Tax sweets in the supermarket: Economists criticize collateral damage


Supermarkets and bakeries are under observation. Next week, VAT on selected foods will be halved. Bread, pastries and vegetables are most affected – they account for an average of three percent of household expenditure in Austria. Hardly any other government measure is discussed more emotionally.
