The federal government will tighten the rules for betting house advertising during the 2026 World Cup. The Ministry of Finance is preparing a provisional measure that will make it mandatory to include awareness messages about the risks of sports betting in advertisements shown during broadcasts and after the end of matches.
The new requirements should come into force in the second phase of the tournament, which starts on Sunday (28), according to information from the Ministry of Finance obtained by GloboNews.
Warnings must appear at the end of advertising pieces, in a format similar to that used in alcoholic beverage advertisements. Among the expected messages are phrases such as “gamble responsibly”, “betting is an activity with a risk of financial loss”, “betting can cause addiction”, “know when to bet and when to stop” and “betting is a matter for adults”.

The initiative follows parameters defined by the National Advertising Self-Regulation Council (Conar), which recommends that betting advertising be presented in a socially responsible way.
In addition to mandatory alerts, the Ministry of Finance is considering expanding restrictions on advertising bets during games. Speaking to journalists in Beijing, this Friday (26), minister Dario Durigan stated that new limitations are being analyzed, but did not anticipate what measures could be adopted.
The standards also reinforce restrictions on the content of advertising campaigns. Companies may not use texts, images or slogans that encourage betting, encourage repetitive gambling or convey the idea that betting is a risk-free behavior. The regulations also determine special attention to the protection of children, adolescents and people in vulnerable situations.
