The president (PT) participates this Friday (June 26, 2026), in Itajaí, in two ceremonies linked to the Brazilian naval industry. The events are held in the municipality of Santa Catarina in the morning and afternoon.

The two agendas deal with the resumption of the national naval sector, focusing on job creation, technological development, sovereignty and expanding the country’s productive capacity.

Starting at 1:30 pm, the president will visit the works on offshore support vessels contracted by the Detroit Brasil shipyard. These vessels are part of the Open Sea Program, an initiative aimed at renewing and expanding the Petrobras System fleet. The program also aims to strengthen the production chain of the national naval industry.

In the morning, at 10:30 am, Lula participates in the launch and baptism of the Frigate Cunha Moreira (F202), 3rd ship of the Tamandaré Class. The vessel was built entirely in Brazil, with national labor and technology transfer. The ship is part of a technological development program aimed at strengthening the Defense Industrial Base. The project aims to protect the Blue Amazon and contributes to the absorption of strategic knowledge, professional qualification and the strengthening of the shipping industry.

In Santa Catarina, 10 vessels are under construction in Itajaí and another 6 in Navegantes. The 2 shipyards mobilize more than 2,000 workers.
