Woman arrested for carrying out cosmetic procedures without authorization in SP

One 51-year-old woman was arrested red-handed last Wednesday (25), in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, suspected of carrying out invasive aesthetic procedures irregularly. The arrest occurred during a Civil Police operation aimed at combating clandestine aesthetic clinics.

According to investigations, the suspect, who has training restricted to the area of ​​aestheticsperformed procedures considered exclusive to medicine, such as endolaser techniques, which involve the introduction of instruments into the subcutaneous tissue and the use of anesthetics.

During the action, police carried out investigations at two properties linked to the investigationa residence on Rua São José, in the Embaré neighborhood, and a space used as a clinic on Rua Álvaro Alvim.

Syringes were seized at the sites, including boxes with previously used materials, surgical aprons and gloves, gauze pads, microcannulas, blood collection tubes, trays with surgical instruments, as well as equipment such as a laboratory centrifuge and plasma incubator.

Medications, anesthetic solutions, such as lidocaine hydrochloride, and several bottles of substances used in invasive procedures were also found.

The Civil Police also reported that the residence was structured to carry out medical procedures without legal or health authorization.

Products for hospital sterilization, documents related to the activity, patient files, care records, technical handouts and electronic equipment were also seized at the property.

According to the investigation, the place did not have basic equipment for emergency situations, such as an oxygen cylinder and defibrillator, which increased the risk to patients undergoing the procedures.

The investigations also indicate that the suspect advertised the services on social media, presenting himself as an expert and inducing consumers to believe in the safety and legality of the procedures.

The police also identified evidence that it offered courses and training related to the practices investigated, which could increase irregular actions.

The woman was charged with the crimes of and storage and use of irregular medicinal products, a crime classified as heinous. She remains at the disposal of the Court.

Investigations continue to identify possible victims and others involved in the scheme.
