Rio de Janeiro bus workers approved an indefinite strike that It should start at midnight this Monday (29). The decision was announced by the Road Workers Union after a meeting held this Sunday (28). There was no agreement on the salary campaign for the category.
Among the main demands are:
- Salary floor of R$4,000 for drivers;
- Salary of R$5,000 for articulated bus drivers;
- 17% adjustment for all workers;
- R$1,000 food ticket;
- Health and dental plan;
- End of temporary contracts at Mobi-Rio, with hiring under the CLT regime.
Despite the announced strike, the Regional Labor Court of the 1st Region (TRT-1) determined, in a preliminary decision, that at least 50% of the train remains in circulation throughout the strike period, per line and itinerary.
The decision also establishes daily fine of R$50,000 in case of non-complianceapplied independently to the Road Passenger Transport Companies of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro (Sintrucad-Rio) and the Union of Bus Companies of the City of Rio de Janeiro (Rio Ônibus).
Rio City Hall reported that it is monitoring the situation and stated that the BRT system, operated by Mobi-Rio, will operate normally with a working day schedule. The municipality also reported that it asked the Court to increase the minimum percentage of buses in circulation to reduce bus costs.
