Trump threatens gas stations that don’t reduce gas prices

The President of the United States, (Republican Party)threatened gas stations that do not reduce gasoline prices “immediately”. Made on Monday night (June 29, 2026) on the internet Truth Social, the Republican declared that companies that do not react could face “big problems”.

Trump said prices charged at the pump are high relative to the value of crude oil. “Retailers need to react quickly and do what they know is right – lower prices for the American people.”he wrote. The president cited a value of around US$2.50 per gallon (around US$0.66 per liter) as a reference.

In the publication, the republican accused the stations of charging abusively, a practice he classified as illegal.

The pressure on the sector is not isolated. The previous week, Trump said he had directed the United States Department of Justice to investigate companies for not reducing prices in proportion to the fall in oil prices. The North American president accused companies of abusing the amounts charged.
