The number of Spaniards who died in the earthquakes in Venezuela rises to 19; there are 131 missing

The figure of Spaniards killed in the double earthquake in Venezuela now amounts to 19according to the update made at midday this Tuesday by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, who has lowered the missing at 131 and has kept 12 those located under the rubble.

Albares, who has sent a second audio to the media after the one sent first thing this morning, has confirmed that tomorrow, Wednesday, the field hospital of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) with the START team that is going to join the efforts of the Spanish rescuers of the AECID emergency aid personnel on the ground for several days now. START is the Emergency Assistance and Response Technical Team, a medical group ready to deploy in less than 72 hours to assist in disasters and humanitarian crises.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, who has conveyed his condolences and solidarity to the families and friends of the victims, has stated that Spain will continue to maintain, “of course”, emergency aid and helping reconstruction when necessary the field hospital, as he has spoken with the Venezuelan foreign minister. “It is something absolutely fundamental in Venezuela because the numbers of injured people are also growing constantly,” said Albares, who added: “Spain, the Spanish people, the Government of Spain will be with the Venezuelan people for as long as necessary.”
