Rome – The ongoing heat wave and water shortage in central Italy are having their first noticeable consequences for tourism and shipping traffic on Lake Trasimeno in the Umbria region. Due to the exceptionally low water level, the ferry connection to the island of Polvese has been suspended for the time being. According to the authorities, the lake level is currently around 1.70 meters below hydrometric zero. This means there is a great risk that the ferries will run aground.
