The suspect accused of driving a truck through a crowd in New Orleans, USA, killing 10 people and injuring at least 36, has been identified as Shamsud Din Jabbar, 42, according to CBS News.
The FBI confirmed earlier on Wednesday (1) that the incident is being treated as an “act of terrorism” and that the man was killed following the attack.
The incident occurred around 3:15 am local time (6:15 am Brasília time) in the French Quarter, an area popular with visitors to the Louisiana city.
Police say the driver was “determined to create the carnage he did” and also opened fire on officers.
In a press conference, the FBI had reported that an improvised explosive device was found at the scene and agents are evaluating whether it would work or not.
