The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, admitted for the first time, on Sunday (10), having authorized the , held in , in Lebanon.
International news agencies reported that Netanuahy acknowledged, during a meeting of his Council of Ministers, that he gave the “green light” for the attack. There was no official statement, but the statement was confirmed by Omer Dostri, spokesman for the Israeli government at AFP.
The attack, which involved the almost simultaneous explosion of thousands of pagers used by Hezbollah, left almost 40 people dead and more than 2,000 injured.

In September, Volker Turk, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, had already called for investigations into the explosions, since using disguised and apparently harmless devices as traps is prohibited by international law.
