The article signed by former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), published in Folha de São Paulo on Sunday (10), generated revulsion on the Brazilian left. The president of the PT, Gleisi Hoffmann, classified as “disgusting” the publication of the text in which Bolsonaro criticizes the left’s nonconformity with the success of the right. “This attempt to normalize an extremist is disgusting,” said the PT member.
In a publication made in “X” this Monday morning (11), Gleisi said that reading Bolsonaro’s article on democracy is “similar to reading an article by a murderer defending the right to life”. “It’s like erasing the memory of the country in which the ineligible party led an armed coup attempt against the elected president, with people who planned to kidnap the presidents of the Republic and the STF who tried to sabotage the electoral process and rig the result”, continued the PT member, referring to the alleged connection; from the former president to the acts of January 8th.
Gleisi also said that Bolsonaro “preaches hatred and practices violence against any opponent, even in his camp”.
Bolsonaro’s allies react and senator says Gleisi is a “fan of Maduro”
Shortly after the publication by PT president, Gleisi Hoffmann, Bolsonaro’s allies echoed Gleisi’s demonstration, mentioning the party’s support for the dictator of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro.
Senator Magno Malta (PL-ES) called Gleisi a “fan of the Maduro regime” and said he found it “funny” that the PT member was bothered by Bolsonaro’s text on democracy. “For the PT, the model of democracy is the of Venezuela!”, wrote the senator in a post on his profile on “X”.
Representative Carlos Jordy (PL-RJ) mocked Gleisi’s publication. “Maduro liked your Tweet and said thank you for signing the São Paulo Forum resolution that recognizes the result of the fraudulent election in Venezuela,” said Jordy when referring to a document prepared at a working group meeting. Despite Jordy’s statement, it is not possible to say that the dictator liked the publication made by the PT member. In the resolution mentioned by Jordy, the parties that make up the São Paulo Forum group, including the PT, expressed solidarity with the Venezuelan regime and recognized the victory of dictator Nicolas Maduro.
