Fraport expands routes in POA and predicts an increase in flow with the winter season

With the turn of the season and the arrival of winter this Sunday (21), Fraport, administrator of Porto Alegre International Airport (RS), is expanding national and international routes, as well as new seasonal destinations, aiming for the high season and projects an increase in the flow of passengers passing through Salgado Filho.

The expansion of the flight offer follows the typical demand of the season, boosting tourism in the face of experiences linked to snow, wine tourism and gastronomy, while still serving passengers who prefer destinations with a warmer climate, such as in the Brazilian Northeast.

For the period between June and August, Fraport estimates the movement of over 2 million passengers, with around 15 thousand flights planned in the period.

In relation to destinations outside the country, according to the concessionaire, from the end of June, the routes have more options on four routes: Buenos Aires, in Argentina, gains an additional frequency from Aerolíneas Argentinas, with five weekly frequencies. If added to the three frequencies operated by Latam, there are a total of 8 direct weekly flights between Porto Alegre and the Argentine capital.

In Chile, the route to the capital Santiago will reach ten weekly frequencies starting next month, adding to the increase in Latam operations and the start of seasonal SKY routes during the winter.

In Europe, the route between the capital of Rio Grande do Sul and Lisbon, Portugal, will have four weekly frequencies via TAP, with departures on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

For North America, the Caribbean and Central America, Copa Airlines expands connections to Panama City, increasing from seven to nine weekly flights.

Seasonal routes

In seasonal operations, the network will have destinations such as Bariloche, in Argentina, with two weekly frequencies, and Maceió (AL), with a weekly frequency, both operated by Azul.

Also in the Northeast, there will be flights to Salvador (BA) with Latam on 3 more weekly frequencies, in addition to Gol, which already operates the route to the capital of Bahia, and will also connect RS with the city of Foz do Iguaçu (PR), on two weekly frequencies.

Both operations will only take place in July.
