Author of a constitutional amendment proposal that sets the working day at 36 hours per week,
“The PT should be at the forefront of this debate. There have been enormous technological and productivity advances in recent years, and this should also be reflected in gains for the worker”, says Lopes. The current working day, according to the Constitution, is 44 hours a week.
In 2019, he presented a project that gradually reduces the journey over ten years. “It’s a flexible proposal, which can be 4×3 or 5×2, in consultation with business entities, says the parliamentarian.
The debate about the journey has heated up in recent days with pressure from activists, especially in Congresswoman Erika Hilton (PSOL-SP) says she is collecting signatures to present an amendment ending this work scheme.
Lopes intends to present the proposal to the party at a meeting scheduled for the beginning of December, in which the PT will discuss issues such as electoral strategy, programmatic guidelines and communication, with an eye on the 2026 election.
According to the PT deputy, it is important to provide uniformity to the day in the country. “We have categories in which in one place the journey is 38 hours, in others it is more than 40”, he says.
