This Saturday, Trump signed a decree applying 25% rates to all imports in Canada and Mexico
(Folhapress) – The White House accused Mexico’s government on Saturday (1) to have provided “safe refuges so that the cartels devote themselves to the manufacture and transport” of drugs.
In a statement, the US government said these narcotics “caused death by overdose of hundreds of thousands of American victims.” The text still accuses the Mexican government of having “an intolerable alliance” with the cards of drug trafficking.
On Saturday, Trump signed a decree applying 25% rates to all imports of Canada and Mexico, one of his main campaign promises. China will be taxed in 10% of imports.
Among the justifications for the new rates the White House said it is necessary to hold the three countries responsible for their promises to stop drug flow to the United States.
In mention of Mexico, the Trump government said the rates will only be overthrown if the Mexicans “cooperate with the US in the fight against drugs.”
In response to the prosecution, Claudia Sheinbaum, president of Mexico, said in X that she categorically rejects the falsity of the White House that the Mexican government has an alliance with organized crime.
“If there is such an alliance somewhere, it is in US arms stores that they sell high -power weapons to these criminal groups, as the United States Department itself demonstrated in January this year,” said the agent.
Sheinbaum said he ordered his economy minister to implement tariff and non -tariff measures to defend Mexico’s interests.
