In The Animal that laughs, Carlos Vidal invites Sheik David Munir, magnet of the central mosque of Lisbon, to talk about laughter in religion, if it is possible to play with everything or if there are limits to the sacred
Can the absence of laughter, associated with the divine, be related to fear? With ignorance? Together they discuss the importance of knowledge and if God is someone who laughs. If most of the Islamic world democracy does not enter, how can laughter come in?
Humorist, physician and musician, all shuffled and without a specific order, Carlos Vidal is a specialist in General and Family Medicine, postgraduate in Sports Medicine from FMUP, and has as the master thesis the “therapeutic benefits of humor”. He organized the “I Health Days: Medicine and Humor”, combining the two arts and treating them the way they should always be viewed: seriously.
It has been invited to various lectures, addressing humor and medicine topics, such as TEDX Youth Aveiro or lectures at the University of Coimbra. It gave a face to several campaigns, including that of the NHS, and organized Risorius-Humor and Art Festival of Albergaria-a-Velha, which had 8 editions.
In this new weekly podcast, Carlos Vidal will think of humor through the stories that each guest brings. The idea is to speak, think, deepen, study and debate laughter and, if all goes well … not come to any conclusion.
