The 76-year-old monk who remained in very serious condition at the Valencia Clinical Hospital (Valencia), along with six other religious, has died, as reported by health sources to the Efe Agency. The event occurred before ten in the morning, when the attacker broke into this monastery located on the outskirts of the town. He went through the bedrooms in search of the religious, whom he then hit with sticks and a bottle that he found in his path. According to a statement sent shortly after the event by the provincial of the Franciscans of the Immaculate Conception, Brother Joaquín Zurera, the victims reported that, while he attacked them “violently,” the assailant told them that he wanted to kill them.

The deceased suffered a head injury and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The other three injured people, aged 57, 66 and 95, had various traumas and bruises and were treated at the same health center.
