The butler in the French Prime Minister’s office was detained for possession of drugs

The man was in charge of serving meals at the Matignon Palace, which is the seat of the French Prime Minister.

A man who is employed as a valet in the French Prime Minister’s office was taken into police custody on Thursday for possession of cocaine. At the time of his arrest, he had 28 jigsaw puzzles with cocaine, which corresponds to 51 grams of the drug, according to TASR.

As Le Parisien reported, the detained 26-year-old man has been working at the Matignon Palace, which is the seat of the French Prime Minister, since 2022, where he was in charge of serving meals.

He was detained in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. In addition to the drugs, he also had 1,400 euros in cash with him.

Le Parisien added that the young man has been unable to work since March 16, 2023, which means, among other things, that he has not been in contact with the new prime minister, Michel Barnier. A police search in the government office is not planned.
