According to federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), Donald Trump’s victory for the presidency of the United States could expose a “fraud” regarding the accusation that Filipe Martins had entered the country alongside former president Jair Bolsonaro ( PL). Martins was Bolsonaro’s special advisor during his tenure as head of the Brazilian executive.
The aforementioned trip, which was supposed to have taken place at the end of 2022, was the reason used by minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Superior Federal Court (STF), to determine the arrest of Filipe Martins for six months. The former advisor was released in August, following a new decision by Moraes to grant him provisional freedom.
According to Eduardo Bolsonaro, however, Trump’s victory in the USA will clarify the alleged fraud surrounding the trip and “prove that the accusation is false”. “A false entry of Filipe Martins into American territory was inserted by North American immigration bureaucrats. And this, now that the elections have passed, will come to light through the US Congress”, said Jair Bolsonaro’s son.
According to Eduardo Bolsonaro, he is in contact with Republican parliamentarians so that Martins’ case can be investigated and clarified. “By getting the correct information, finding the person who changed Filipe Martins’s entry in the USA, we will probably also reach the Brazilian authorities who provoked the Americans to make this false entry. This is a crime in the USA”, he stated.
The former advisor was arrested on February 8 of this year at the behest of Moraes. The magistrate claimed that Martins was suspected of having planned a coup d’état and that there was a risk that he would flee the country. The basis for Moraes’ allegation was Martins’ supposed trip to the United States.
