Explosions were heard in Kiev, the Ukrainian capital, and parts of the city were left without power on Monday morning (11). The country’s air force placed the entire country on alert following the launch of Russian missiles.
“The air alert is related to the launch of cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic bombers,” the Air Force said on its Telegram channels.
Reuters witnesses reported hearing explosions in Kiev from what appeared to be operating air defense systems.
Parts of Kiev were also left without power, witnesses reported, after Ukrainian media reported emergency blackouts in several regions due to the attack.
According to the Ukrainian army, the power cuts are part of a preventive measure in the face of Russian attacks.
