Billionaire is offering in vitro fertilization to women using his sperm. He already has more than 100 children

Pavel Durov

The billionaire founder of Telegram has partnered with a Russian fertility clinic to offer in vitro fertilization treatments to women using his genetic material.

Pavel Durov, the billionaire CEO and founder of Telegram, is funding fertility treatments for Russian women who use their sperm to conceiveaccording to reports from Moscow.

The initiative, supported by Durov’s financial contributions, is being facilitated by the AltraVita IVF Clinic, which has been advertising the program since the summer.

The clinic’s spokesperson confirmed that the program offers free in-vitro fertilization (IVF) exclusively to Russian women, a procedure that is normally costs around 4700 euros.

However, details about the process remain confidential due to medical privacy concerns. The spokesman described Durov’s financial support as a “very generous” contribution designed to address global fertility challenges.

In a Telegram post earlier this year, Durov revealed that he began donating sperm 15 years ago and has since been father of more than 100 children in 12 countries. The billionaire emphasized the growing concern about declining fertility rates around the world, expressing a desire to normalize sperm donation as a means of solving this problem.

“Challenging conventions – redefine the norm!“, he wrote, adding that his sperm was available anonymously to families wishing to become pregnant.

Durov’s philanthropic activities come amid legal troubles in France, where authorities are prosecuting him for sharing alleged illicit material on Telegram. Durov, who has French and Russian citizenship, was arrested in Paris in August, after landing in his private jet. Although he was released, he is prevented from leaving France while the process takes place.

Despite his legal challenges, Durov remains active in promoting unconventional solutions to social issues, and this fertility program is one of his most notable efforts. The initiative underlines its vision to combat declining fertility rates, while also raising debate about the ethical dimensions of these initiatives.
