The Minister of Defense, José Múcio, said this Wednesday (20) that the military arrested in 2022 to prevent the president’s inauguration do not represent the Armed Forces ().

The plan, according to the Federal Police, included the murder of the PT member, his deputy, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) and the minister of the Federal Supreme Court () .

“They are not people who represent the Armed Forces. They were not representing the military. They were with CPFs [deles]this was everyone’s initiative. And I hope that everything is investigated, that the culprits are truly judged by justice”, he said upon arriving at Itamaraty, where he is participating in a dinner in honor of the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“It’s the STF and the PF who deal with this. We only know when the fact is accomplished, the process is concluded. I hope and the Forces also hope that whoever tarnishes the name of the Armed Forces, if they are truly guilty, will be punished”, completed.

This Tuesday’s operation was authorized by Moraes and targeted a retired general, a federal police officer and military personnel with special forces training, the so-called “black kids”.

It occurs less than a week after the attack, about which Moraes and the general director of the PF, Andrei Rodrigues, linked the episode to investigations involving the former president () and his allies.

The PF investigation that gave rise to the operation launched this Tuesday discovered that the five people arrested (four military personnel and a federal police officer) planned in 2022, on a messaging app, the murder of Lula, Alckmin and Moraes to prevent the PT member from taking office. .

During his term, the now ineligible Bolsonaro is currently the target of a PF investigation into his role in the plot that attempted to prevent the elected president from taking office.7

The conduct of the five arrested by the PF this Tuesday (19), according to 4 of 5 experts in criminal law interviewed by the Sheet.

There is, however, a divergent current that understands the suspects’ actions as merely preparatory acts, which would lead to their conduct not being punishable in the criminal field.
