Flamengo remains the biggest fan base in Brazil, according to new research by Datafolha. The survey revealed that the red and black team from Rio has 19% of Brazilian fans’ preference.
Corinthians occupies second place, with 14% of preference, while Palmeiras appears in third, with 7%.
São Paulo comes in fourth, with 6% popular support. Grêmio and Vasco both follow with 4%, while Santos, Cruzeiro and Internacional have 3% each.

In last year’s survey, 21% of those interviewed declared themselves to be Flamengo supporters. Even so, the current rate still represents one of the highest levels in the historical series that began in 1993.
Datafolha, which interviewed 2,004 people over the age of 16 between the 5th and 7th of November in 113 Brazilian municipalities, also revealed that Flamengo fans are strongest in the North, Northeast and Central-West regions.

In the North, 29% of fans prefer Flamengo, while in the Northeast, the Rio club is the favorite of 25% of those interviewed. In the Central-West, the numbers are repeated, with 29% support for the red-black.
In the Southeast, Flamengo is the second most cited, with 15%, behind Corinthians, which leads with 20%. In the South, Rubro-Negro is third, tied with Corinthians, both with 9%, behind Grêmio, which has 23% and Internacional, with 18%.
The Datafolha survey also highlights that the share of the population that does not support any team is significant, with 23% of respondents declaring themselves neutral in relation to clubs.
