Baerbock criticized China’s role in several international crises.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock will visit China on Monday and Tuesday at the invitation of her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. This was announced by the Department of Diplomacy in Beijing on Friday, writes TASR.

The two-day visit follows the recent meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Brazil. During these talks, Si called for the development of mutual relations with a strategic and long-term perspective.

As the DPA agency reminded, Baerbock has recently criticized China’s role in several international crises, including climate change and Russian military aggression against Ukraine.

The German government assumes that Moscow is getting help from China

The German government assumes that Moscow is receiving help in the form of drones from its most important ally – Beijing. Therefore, Baerbock warned China about the consequences of such support.

As China is the world’s largest producer of climate-changing carbon dioxide emissions, Baerbock is also appealing for it to join other nations that provide aid to developing countries.

The head of German diplomacy last visited Beijing in mid-April 2023. In September of that year, she caused a diplomatic rift with statements in an interview with American television Fox News, where, among other things, she called Xi Jinping a dictator. At that time, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the German ambassador Patricia Florová in protest.
