French President Emmanuel Macron spoke on the phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Fridaywhile he confirmed support for Ukraine and again condemned the escalation of Russian attacks. TASR informs about this according to a Reuters report referring to the statements of both presidents.
Macron, according to a statement from his office in a phone call “he most emphatically condemned Russia’s attacks, which are carried out in an indiscriminate manner against the cities, civilian population or energy infrastructure of Ukraine and they are constantly escalating”.
Zelenskyy stated separately on the Telegram social network that to the French president, he again emphasized the importance of inviting Ukraine to the North Atlantic Alliance. “I had a productive telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron. I thanked him for France’s readiness to help with the overall strengthening of Ukraine’s air defenses and for supporting and speeding up the transfer French Mirage fighter jets to Ukraine,” he said.
France should supply Ukraine the first batch of Mirage 2000 fighters already in the first three months of 2025. Ukrainian pilots and mechanics will be in France in the meantime training for their operation and maintenance.
On Friday, the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, Andriy Sybiha, asked his departmental colleagues from NATO member countries to Ukraine was already invited to the Alliance at the upcoming ministerial meeting, which will be in Brussels to take place on December 3-4.
