“I'm fed up: I want Ventura to go bad. You can’t talk about certain topics because of him.”

Montenegro failed by talking about security at 8pm, or did previous governments fail by not talking about security at 8pm?

The Government led by Luís Montenegro added, in the same week, two moments that are on the list of the most memorable of his first year in office.

One was led by the Minister of Education, who announced incorrect figures about students who do not have at least one teacher. Fernando Alexandre no longer believes in the DGEstE numbers.

The other, the day before, was performed by Luis Montenegrothat an investment of 20 million euros for buy 600 vehicles for PSP and GNR. Everything so that Portugal continues to be one of the safest countries.

The matter is pertinent, it is not in question. What was questioned was the time of the announcement: 20h. It’s “television time”, when a government dismissal, an important economic measure for the Portuguese, or another very important decision for the country is usually announced.

In analyzing this moment, José Manuel Fernandes begins by saying that “André Ventura must have thankedis the big winner.”

The political commentator said that the prime minister has even stood out (in a positive way) for being more discreet than Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa or António Costa, but this time he came to address a “feeling of insecurity explored by Chega and says he will take care of it.”

“André Ventura manages to dominate the political and media agendawith the themes he put on the agenda. And with the centrality that other parties give it because, whenever something happens, someone says that it was done because of Chega”, he added on the radio.

Seconds later, Helena Matos had a curious reaction: “Look, I I want André Ventura to go wild! I’m tired, absolutely fed up, of not being able to talk about certain topics because it favors André Ventura. This has led us to absolute nonsense!”

Regarding Luís Montenegro’s speech, the commentator admits that the prime minister could have spoken at another time, but highlights that this would have been the first communication at this level, of a prime minister, on security.

“The only thing to hurt in this is that, before, no prime minister has done the same. This topic was left for those who wanted to talk about it. Maybe we should have held a press conference about security a few years ago”, he pointed out.

Helena Matos warns that security occupies a different place in everyone’s priorities. And he put himself in the shoes of those who live in less safe areas: “If I lived in Reboleira, Venda Nova, or very close to Zambujal, perhaps I would have wanted to listen to the prime minister”.
