The Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (), , against the former Minister of Justice, , and allowed him to attend his mother’s wake.
Amélia Gomes da Silva Torres was 70 years old and was fighting incurable cancer, and passed away in the early hours of this Friday (29).
On the 23rd, Moraes had relaxed the restrictive measures against Anderson Torres, to visit and take care of her.
After the death, Moraes released Torres “for the strictly necessary period” to go to the Campo da Esperança Cemetery, for the wake and burial, which will take place this Saturday afternoon (30), in Asa Sul, in Brasília.
“It is worth highlighting the provisional nature of this decision, which does not exempt the applicant from complying with the other precautionary measures imposed on him”, says Moraes, in his decision.
Former Minister of Justice of (PL), Torres was indicted by the Federal Police (PF) in the investigation investigating the attempted coup d’état.
He was arrested in January 2023 due to a possible omission involving the. Then, he was Secretary of Public Security for the Federal District (DF).
A draft with coup content was also found in his house. In testimony at the TSE, Torres denied the coup nature of the document, which he referred to as “trash, madness and folklore”.
On May 11, Torres’ preventive detention was revoked, and he is currently under house arrest, needs to wear an electronic ankle bracelet, cannot leave the DF, nor use social media.
He was also indicted in another investigation, on suspicion of using the PRF under Bolsonaro to prevent voters from voting for the then candidate Luiz Inácio da Silva ().
