Because of police incidents, the Secretary of Public Security of , , has clung to security indicators from his administration to try to overcome the crisis. The main argument is that hard-line security management has yielded results.
On November 30, the secretariat released data showing that the state recorded the lowest number of intentional homicides in history in ten months. There were 2,065 in the period, a reduction of 2.9% compared to the same period last year. In October, there were 205 homicide records in the state, the second lowest figure since 2001, the beginning of the historical series.
Another fact that Derrite has reinforced to interlocutors refers to the number of robberies and thefts.
The index decreased 14.9% from January to October compared to 2023, falling from 190,936 to 162,409. There was a drop in thefts of cargo, vehicles and theft in general.
Another achievement released by the Derrite administration refers to the increase in arrests and seizures of offenders, an increase of 11.4% compared to 2023. The seizures of illegal firearms also increased by 34.8%
Derrite has faced unprecedented questions since his arrival in office due to several episodes that exposed abuses in police action, to the point where his continued tenure in office was questioned. Deaths due to police action rose 78% compared to 2023.
