A tourist sparked outrage from cultural preservationists after she was caught scattering the ashes of a loved one in , Peru. The video was on a Peruvian tourism account, but was eventually removed due to strong negative reaction.

In the footage, a woman, whose name was not revealed, appears at the top of one of the peaks of the Inca city, scattering ashes in the wind.
The sequence ends with the tourist bowing and then hugging another person.
Peruvian cultural authorities disapprove of the traveler’s attitude, claiming that Machu Picchu is a sacred monument, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some people even said that agencies need to step up historic preservation efforts.
Peru’s Ministry of Culture said it is trying to identify the woman and the tourism agency responsible for the act.

Internet users also condemned the woman’s attitude, with one saying: “May the full weight of the law fall on the person who committed this act, there was no respect for Machu Picchu.”
Another person wrote: “What is the need to do this in a universal jewel, like Machu Picchu?”
