Gingerbreads are not only a delicious dessert, but also a symbol and decoration of Christmas. Prepare them now to create a joyful and family atmosphere at home.
In many homes, gingerbread is a mandatory dessert during Christmas. They fill the whole house with a beautiful scent and we can feel the atmosphere of Christmas. This one is one of the easiest and most enjoyable to prepare. The cookies have a delicate consistency that melts in your mouth immediately after baking. Unlike other recipes, you don’t have to wait until they soften.
The taste of the gingerbread is complemented by the icing, which is made of powdered sugar and milk. It adds sweetness and covers them with a shiny, smooth layer that makes the cookies look stunning. The gingerbreads look elegant and will be.
Their advantage is that they stay fresh for a long time. If stored properly, they will not lose their taste or consistency even for a month. Thanks to this, you can prepare them now and enjoy them throughout December.
Ingredients:
- 150 g of honey,
- 100 g of butter,
- 70 g sugar,
- egg,
- a teaspoon of baking soda,
- 50 g boiling water,
- 2 tablespoons of gingerbread spice,
- a pinch of salt,
- 380 g of flour.
Ingredients for the frosting:
- 350 g of powdered sugar,
- 50-70 ml of milk.
How to do it:
Put the butter and honey into a small pot. Heat over low heat until the ingredients dissolve and combine. Add the gingerbread spice and mix until combined. Remove from the heat and leave to cool. Crack the egg into a bowl, add sugar and beat with a mixer into a light, fluffy mass. Add baking soda and boiling water and continue mixing. Then add honey and butter with spices. When all the ingredients are combined, we can add the flour. Mix everything with a spatula and then leave the mixture for a few minutes to cool. After about 10-15 minutes it will be ready for cutting gingerbread cookies.
We can use the table top and roller lightly brush with oil. The mass is quite sticky, which makes this procedure easier to work with. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 2-3 mm and then cut out your favorite shapes. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Place in the oven preheated to 190 degrees C for approx. 7-8 minutes.
While the gingerbreads are baking, we can start preparing the icing. In a bowl, mix the milk and powdered sugar until smooth. Take the gingerbread out of the oven and dip it in the icing while still hot. Then place them on a rack to cool down.
The gingerbreads are soft immediately after baking, so you can eat them without any worries. Stored in a tightly closed container, they will last up to a month.
