Future PT leader in the Chamber of Deputies, Lindbergh Farias (RJ) says he expects the new president of , , to intervene in the exchange rate to contain the rise in the dollar.
“He will certainly have instruments at his disposal for this and will not stop acting, as the current president of the BC [Roberto Campos Neto]”, says the PT member, who will take command of the bench in February.
The PT assesses that the Central Bank in the Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva government. According to Lindbergh, the body made 122 exchange rate interventions during the administration (PL) and only 2 under the PT member.
Campos Neto is considered by Lula and allies as an “infiltrator” of the Bolsonaro administration, while Galípolo, the institution’s current director of Monetary Policy, is seen as an ally.
