Lunchbox orders grew the most in 2024, says iFood

Orders for lunch boxes grew the most in 2024, according to a survey carried out by iFood, the largest delivery platform in the country. Searches for this category increased by 18%.

Second place went to bakery items, which increased by 11%. Next are açaí orders, which grew 9%. The data collected by the company was passed exclusively to the CNN.

“When we look at the year 2024 for the restaurant vertical, we saw that we were able to expand opportunities for more entrepreneurs, who find an important part of their income in iFood”, says Beatriz Pentagna, business marketing director.

São Paulo

  • Lunchboxes, growth of 17%, with an absolute increase of 2,745,916
  • Bakery, growth of 11%, with an absolute increase of 1,014,779
  • Pastel, growth of 10%, with an absolute increase of 483,526
  • Arabic food, growth of 8.5%, with an absolute increase of 517,940
  • Sweets and cakes, growth of 6.5%, with an absolute increase of 949,007

Rio de Janeiro

  • Juices, growth of 25%, with an absolute increase of 12,756
  • Chickens, growth of 24.5%, with an absolute increase of 58,440
  • Lunchboxes, growth of 21%, with an absolute increase of 489,562
  • Pastel, growth of 16.8%, with an absolute increase of 69,289
  • Burgers, growth of 12.6%, with an absolute increase of 118,886

More establishments

According to the company’s balance sheet, there were almost 60 thousand new businesses, including restaurants and others, that began selling their products and services through the platform.

Restaurants had a monthly average of 653 million dish views.

According to data released by Ifood, the platform handles 110 million orders per month in an ecosystem integrated by 360 thousand delivery people, 380 thousand partner establishments, 55 million customers in 1500 cities where the service is available.
