As the saying goes: If the world ends at some point, you should move to Vienna, because that’s where things happen a few years later. To this day, it is not completely clear who this quote originally came from, but in the context of Austria’s gas supply it has once again remained valid: When Russia attacked Ukraine in February 2022 and Gazprom throttled the gas supply, several European energy companies withdrew from the contracts the Russians. The Austrian OMV has only now followed suit – more than two years late.
