Appointed by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to form the National Council of the (CNMP), judge Vanessa Mateus withdrew from occupying the position.
She sent a letter on December 4th to the president of the STF, Luís Roberto Barroso, renouncing the designation.
The judge explained that she cannot at this time step away from her activities at She is one of the directors of the entity, which is about to begin a succession process.
In the message to Barroso, the judge mentions that the sending of her name to the House took place in August, and that so far no rapporteur has been chosen. This ended up interfering with his plans.
“In the months that passed between the appointment and the writing of this letter there was a substantial change in the factual circumstances, placing me in the difficult contingency of having to choose between the position for which my colleagues in the judiciary from all over Brazil entrusted their vote, of Coordinator of the State Justice of the AMB, and the honor of occupying a seat on the prestigious National Council of the Public Ministry”, he stated.
The withdrawal has already been communicated by Barroso to the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG). The STF will now make a new appointment for the vacancy.
