Striker Deyverson underwent a surgical procedure on his right eye to remove ‘meat in the eye’. Pterygium surgery, as it is called, is performed with local anesthesia to remove excess conjunctiva, the membrane that protects the eye, over the cornea.
Pterygium surgery consists of removing this “flesh” using local anesthesia and then performing a conjunctival micrograft. The procedure is considered simple and easy to recover in seven days. The Atlético-MG center forward waited for the end of the season to undergo the procedure.
Deyverson is at home with his family and shared an image on social media after the surgery. Postoperative care, in general, involves the use of tampons, eye drops and antibiotic or anti-inflammatory ointments. In 2024, Deyverson entered the field 23 times wearing the Galo shirt. The striker was responsible for scoring six goals for the team this season and contributed two assists.
