Mega da Virada is one of the most anticipated end-of-year events and in 2024 it will offer the biggest prize of all time: R$600 million.
Ticket sales started on November 11th and the draw will take place on December 31st.
Since 2009, Caixa Econômica Federal has distributed a total of R$4.4 billion to the winners. However, one of the curious facts is that the “jackpot” never came to a single bettor.
According to Caixa, the total prize money allows the winner to stay for more than two years in the most expensive hotel in the world, which charges R$750,000 per night, or even buy approximately 1,430 super sports cars costing R$420,000. .

Numbers never drawn that appeared the most
Although there are countless combinations, there are some numbers that have never been drawn in Mega da Virada.
The numbers 21 and 48 appeared among the six dozens selected in 2023, never before drawn before.
Based on the 15 previous editions, the ten numbers never drawn in history are: 7, 8, 9, 13, 19, 28, 39, 44, 48 e 54.
If the strategy is to bet on 10 appeared five times in the years 2009, 2010, 2017, 2018 and 2022.
Next, the next favorite is number 5, appearing in 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2022.
Luckiest cities
Some cities are luckier than others, as is the case of São Paulo — the most populous city in the country —, which tops the list with 12 winning bets in the city, according to Caixa Econômica Federal.
Next comes Brasília, with eight winners, andBehind are Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte, with five and four winning tickets, respectively.
When looking by state, after São Paulo, Bahia is the luckiest region, with three winners in Euclides da Cunha and Salvador.
Bethlehem appears next, with two winners, together with the municipality in the state of Minas Gerais, Carmo do Cajuru.
Forgotten Prize

In this edition, two winners shared the amount of R$325.2 million, one from São Paulo and the other from Aracaju, but only the Sergipe native remembered to claim his money.
At the time, Procon in São Paulo even notified Caixa Econômica Federal so that the bank could identify the winner. The director of the organization stated that Caixa should look for ways to notify the bettor instead of using the prize for other purposes.
According to Caixa rules, the winner has 90 days to redeem the amount. If this does not happen, the amounts will be fully allocated to the Higher Education Student Financing Fund (Fies).
Boy gets all the numbers right, but mother doesn’t record the game
Pedro Henrique, aged 10, got all the numbers right worth R$540 million, but his mother, Linda Inês, from the backlands of Paraíba, did not register the game.
The boy filled out the ticket he received from his uncle on the afternoon of the 31st, when the draw took place. The woman had already made two bets, but none of them came to fruition.
