One of the party’s main leaders in the city, federal deputy Antônio Carlos Rodrigues (SP) accuses the president of the Legislative Assembly, André do Prado (PL), who is from Guararema, of trying to interfere in the capital.
Prado would be behind the nomination,
The secretariat is currently part of the PL quota,
“I’m ethical, I’m not like André, I don’t get involved in the municipality if I’m not from here. This is creating a bad situation even with our group of councillors”, says Rodrigues.
“If he [Prado] He thinks he has power here, so he asks the state deputies to return to municipal issues, instead of the councilors”, he ironizes.
The irritation is related to the possibility of Machado, a former tucano who is ending his term in the interior city, running for federal deputy in 2026. This could hinder Rodrigues’ plans to be re-elected to the Federal Chamber.
“They are bringing someone from Jundiaí who was a tucana until yesterday, to our nest. Nothing against him [Machado]but this does not serve our interests. I am against this nomination for secretary”, he states.
The dispute is permeated by deeper issues. Rodrigues is from the non-Bolsonaro wing of the party. He has a centrist profile, and became a minister in the Dilma Rousseff government. “I’ve been in the party forever, Bolsonaro arrived later,” he declared.
This has generated resistance among people closest to the former president within the PL. Rodrigues does not rule out leaving the party. “I’ll wait for developments,” he says.
When contacted, André do Prado did not want to speak out.
