He worked behind the scenes in conversations with the military personnel closest to Braga Netto, which includes generals Paulo Sérgio Nogueira and admiral Almir Garnier Santos, former commander of the Navy.

The main element listed by the PF that implicates Peregrino in the coup plot are documents found on the reserve colonel’s desk in February, during searches at the PL headquarters, in Brasília.

“The context of the document reveals that, possibly, questions were asked about the content of the collaboration agreement made by Mauro Cid at police headquarters, which would have [sic] were initially answered, by the employee himself, in red”, says the Federal Police.
Braga Netto was preventively arrested on Saturday on suspicion of obstruction of justice. According to the PF, the general tried to obtain confidential details of Mauro Cid’s accusation through the informant’s father, General Mauro Lourena Cid, to hinder the investigations.
The material found intersperses personal considerations with first-person sentences, suggesting that the statements were made by Cid himself.
“I didn’t go into meetings. I just brought people in,” says an excerpt from the document found on Peregrino’s desk.
The researchers also found a handwritten document on Peregrino’s desk with the title “Operation 142”. He alluded to article 142 of the Federal Constitution, which defines the functions of the Armed Forces.

The general published a press release after the PF revealed his advisor’s material. “The documents, notes, drafts, press reports served as preparatory material for responding to press demands and, mainly, for preparing people to appear before Parliamentary Commissions of Inquiry”, says the note.
