I made my own dehumidifiers that absorb moisture – they work great and cost pennies

Dehumidifiers are very important in the home. But at the same time, it’s not exactly the cheapest investment. See how you can make your own dehumidifier. It is functional and will cost you only a few crowns.

December is in full swing, it’s cold outside, which only means one thing. Goodbye drying clothes outside on the balcony and windows wide open. Who would open the windows in this day and age, when it’s slowly below zero outside, right? However, this causes one problem, and that is air humidity. When you dry clothes at home near the heater and the windows are not open, moist air accumulates. This creates annoying problems.

Air humidity

In winter it is taken for granted. In short, you want your home to be comfortably warm so that the unpleasant and biting cold air from outside does not reach you. Of course it makes sense. But that has its risks.

For example, when you dry clothes at home near the heater, moisture can accumulate in the room. Since your windows are closed, the moist air cannot circulate and it settles. However, it doesn’t have to be caused by drying the laundry either, as moisture can also be released from your body, for example through sweat and so on.

The result of these situations is very unpleasant. When moist air does not circulate and settles, the perfect environment for mold is created in the given room. This can lead, for example, to peeling plaster, unsightly black spots in the corners of the wall and on the ceiling, or, if you have wooden furniture, to mold and the subsequent unsightly wear of the wood.

And it’s not just about the smell and unsightly appearance of the room, but also about your health. Bacteria and fungi emit toxic fumes that are not at all healthy for humans and their respiratory system. But what about that?

Manual air dehumidifier

In such a situation, a dehumidifier is the ideal solution. But, unfortunately, we live in a time of inflation, and really high-quality dehumidifiers definitely don’t cost a penny. But what costs almost five crowns are the means with which you can make a functional air dehumidifier yourself.

Only 3 things are needed. And you probably already have 2 of them at home. And if you have a cat, you don’t have to go to the store at all, because you have everything you need.

First of all, it is important to have salt or baking soda available. However, the most important ingredient is cat litter. Pour the salt into different small bowls. Then take old tights that don’t have holes in them and fill them with cat litter.

Secure them with a rubber band, spread the salt and litter stockings around the room you need to absorb the moisture, and you’re done. Cat litter, baking soda, and salt have tremendous absorption capabilities that help you get rid of moisture in the air.
