Antonio Carlos Mangini (PL), the re-elected mayor of Cabreúva, 78 km from the capital of São Paulo, died this Sunday (15) due to a .
He was hospitalized at Hospital Sírio-Libanês, in , due to complications from cancer, diagnosed in 2021, shortly after assuming his first term in Cabreúva City Hall.
While facing the disease, he was re-elected in October this year with 59.66% of the votes.
A retired military police officer, before assuming positions as mayor, the politician was a councilor for two terms (2004 and 2016), worked as secretary of Public Security in Itu and as inspector of the Municipal Guard of Itupeva.
Mangini leaves behind his wife and three children. His wake will be held at Arena Cabreúva and his body will be buried this Monday (16), at Cemitério Parque Memorial Japi.
In a post on social media, the governor () stated that he received the news of the mayor’s death with regret. “Even while he was bravely fighting cancer, he remained steadfast in his mission,” he said.
Vice mayor, Noemi Bernardes () will assume the position for the next four years. She is a retired teacher, taught for 30 years in the state network and has two children.
