The Specialized Action Group to Combat Organized Crime of the Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Gaeco/MPRJ) launched, on the morning of this Wednesday (18), an operation against those investigated in the investigation that investigates the death of the former president of Portela, Marcos Falconexecuted by gunfire in 2016.
Search and seizure warrants are executed against two targets. Among them is an active military police officer. According to Gaeco, both – arrested by the MP in October this year.
Issued by the Court of the 2nd Criminal Court of the Capital, the warrants are being served at addresses in Barra da Tijuca, Madureira and Jacarepaguá, in the capital of Rio.
According to investigations, there were conflicts between Falcon and Rogério de Andrade, who is the patron of Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel.
According to the MP, the rivalry between the samba schools represented by each one; the murder, in 2016, of Geraldo Antônio Pereira, a close friend of Falcon and enemy of Rogério de Andrade; the suspicion that Falcon had participated in a bomb attack that killed one of Rogério’s children; and the possibility that Falcon and Geraldo Pereira were planning to kill Rogério are among the reasons highlighted in the investigation.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, one of the targets of the operation, who is Rogério de Andrade’s right-hand man, had at least two photos of Marcos Falcon’s body, taken shortly after his murder.
Another image stored by the investigator was of an electronic ballot box displaying the campaign number and the photo of the victim, already dead when the elections took place. When he was executed, Falcon was running for the position of councilor for Progressistas (PP).
Gaeco states that prints of suspicious messages were also found with military police officer Anselmo Dionísio das Neves, known as Peixinho, denounced by the MP for procedural fraud in August 2023. According to the investigation, Anselmo interfered in the investigation into the murder of Marcos Falcon , removing one of the victim’s cell phones from the scene of the crime.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office also points out the link between this person being investigated and an active military police officer, also the target of search and seizure, who would have been one of those responsible for taking over the businesses left behind by Marcos Falcon after his death, especially the so-called “Falcon camp”. ”.
A CNN contacted the Military Police about the active agent who is the target of the operation. According to the corporation, the Internal Affairs Department supports the MPRJ’s action.
Falcon’s Death
Then president of the Portela Samba School, Marcos Vieira Souza, known as Marcos Falcon, was 52 years old and was a candidate for councilor for the city of Rio when he was killed by rifle shots on the afternoon of September 26, 2016. He was the victim of an ambush, carried out by four men in a car, near the campaign committee, on Rua Maria José, in Oswaldo Cruz, in the north of the city.
Falcon was a candidate for the PP and had taken charge of the Madureira samba school less than a year ago. Previously, he held the position of administrative director at Portela.
Falcon was a sub-lieutenant in the Military Police and for several years he was assigned to the Anti-Kidnapping Division of the Civil Police, where he participated in the release of several people kidnapped in Rio, including bus operators.
