According to Czech President Petr Pavl, it is necessary to exert pressure on Russia and Ukraine so that they have the will to end the fighting, sit down at the negotiating table and be able to negotiate under fair conditions. According to Pavle, if any of the parties would only want to promote their idea, an agreement will not be reached. He said this on Wednesday during a livestream on his social networks, where he answered questions from followers, reports TASR in Prague.
According to Pavel, a peaceful solution will not come only by wishing for peace, but by both warring parties having the will to end combat operations and sit down at the negotiating table.
“And for that, we have to put pressure on both countries so that they have such a will and are able to negotiate on the basis of fair conditions, because if any of the parties would only want to enforce their idea, then an agreement will certainly not be reached,” said the president.
Currently, according to him, Russia is not interested in negotiating. And if so, then only on the basis of the conditions that it has set itself and which are basically capitulation for Ukraine. “We would admit that the aggressor, who has more power, finally achieved his goal and the rest of us will put up with it. That would definitely not be good news for the safety of our country and our children,” explained Pavel.
Support of Ukraine in the interests of the Czech Republic
He added that whether anyone likes it or not, it is in the interest of the Czech Republic to support Ukraine so that Russia understands that results cannot be achieved on the battlefield, but at the negotiating table.
According to him, it is also necessary to put pressure on countries like China, which has influence on Russia, but also on others that support Russia and its aggression. According to the Czech president, the longer Moscow feels the chance to acquire Ukraine, or a large part of it through military force, the longer the war will last.
During the half-hour live broadcast, Pavel also explained to his followers why he decided to sign the state budget when he had reservations about it or why he is in favor of banning gun silencers. He also answered light-hearted questions about Christmas or what music he listens to. According to him, he enjoys the intersection of rock, jazz and blues the most. It was already Pavlov’s second live stream, he broadcast live for the first time in August.
