Gusts of wind and falling trees cause outages; Enel activates contingency plan
In a note released this Saturday (Dec 21, 2024), Enel Distribuição said that it has been working to resolve the problems of electricity outages that affected the São Paulo region after heavy rains in recent days.
To date, 86% of affected customers have had their service back to normal, but around 88,000 remain without power.
The east and west zones of São Paulo, in addition to the municipalities of Ribeirão Pires and Mauá, in Greater São Paulo, are among the most affected areas. Enel activated a contingency plan, increasing the number of teams in the field working around the clock to repair the damage and restore power.
The company reported that wind gusts exceeding 80 km/h contributed to the falling of branches and trees, damaging the power grid. Around 70% of occurrences are related to this contact with vegetation.
For customers who still face interruptions, Enel recommends using its digital channels to report a power outage, via the Enel São Paulo app, available for iOS and Android.
The guidance aims to optimize service and accelerate the service normalization process. On the night of Friday (Dec 20), power was lost in Greater São Paulo.
