Vienna – It is shortly after 10 a.m., the warm sun makes the cold air bearable even for the few who are not wearing a down or at least functional jacket uniform. The Christmas decorations are glittering, the cheeks are red and the queue in front of the Café Central in Vienna’s Herrengasse is still relatively manageable with a waiting time of around half an hour to three quarters of an hour. The tourists line up in a good mood and willingly, taking selfies because the waiting itself has long since become an event. It would have taken them twenty minutes, says a young couple who came from Brazil with their parents and had just left the traditional café. They had a good half an hour to eat hot chocolate, apple strudel and Viennese breakfast in the historical ambience. It was “so nice, so pretty” that the visit was on her bucket list for Vienna. Check.
