Anaya Raj had been missing for 42 days and has now been found near the border with Pakistan. He may have planned to run away with his boyfriend. It is still not known how or why he left Portugal.

The 13-year-old teenager who was missing since April 27in Vendas Novas, in the district of Évora, was found in India, in an area close to the border with Pakistan, thousands of kilometers from Portugal.

According to , the minor identified as Anaya Raj has already returned to the countryaccompanied by her father, who traveled to India to bring her back to the family.

The case continues to be investigated by the Évora Judicial Police, which seeks to clarify the circumstances in which the minor left Portugal and arrived in the Asian country. One of the hypotheses under analysis will be that the trip may have been planned with her boyfriendalthough the contours of the case are not yet clear.

Authorities are seeking to determine how the young woman left the country, what route she took to India and whether she had help from third parties. “She told me that her classes started at 10:25 am (…) when I went to school at 8:00 am I didn’t see her and I thought she had gone home early (…) her friends told me that her classes started at 8:00 am”, said Anaya Raj’s sister.

When she passed a family acquaintance, Anaya turned away, “hiding” from the lady she always greeted, said the sister of the young woman who disappeared 42 days ago: “She thought it was strange”.

The young woman also spoke of an “audio” that she considered “fake”, circulating on social media. In it, Anaya Raj was reportedly heard assuring her that she is fine, heading to India with her grandparents.

Despite the minor’s return to Portugal, the investigation remains open to determine whether there were criminal liabilities associated with the young woman’s displacement and whether anyone facilitated or participated in the journey.
