Barcelona forward Ferran Torres underwent an MRI this Tuesday (24) which detected a muscle injury in his right leg. As a result, he becomes doubtful for the match against Barbastro in the Copa del Rey on January 4th.
“Ferran Torres ended Saturday’s game with a muscle problem”, states a statement released by Barcelona. “As the problem has not disappeared, the player underwent an MRI today and a small injury to his soleus was detected, which means he will be unavailable until the injury is healed,” the statement ends, without mentioning a date.
Ferran Torres played just over 35 minutes against Atlético de Madrid when he came on in the second half replacing Gavi. The striker was in good form after scoring 4 goals in five games, despite only starting one. He felt muscle discomfort after the game against Atlético de Madrid.
After losing on Saturday, 2-1, in the 18th round of Espanyol, Barcelona ends the year in third place in Espanyol, with 38 points. Atlético has 41, and Real Madrid, 40. Barcelona led much of the championship in 2024.
