Striker Kylian Mbappé arrived at Real Madrid with star status at the start of the season. He went through a phase of turbulence, but he seems to have found good football again and reaches the end of 2024 with more goals than those scored by the biggest scorer of the biggest winner of the Champions League, Cristiano Ronaldo, when he started at the club.
At the end of his first half of the season at Real, Mbappé found the net 14 times compared to 13 for the Portuguese in the same period, according to a survey by Spanish newspaper As.
In 2009, until the Christmas break, Real Madrid played 21 matches, of which Cristiano Ronaldo played 12. He was suspended for one game and missed eight due to injury (bone edema in his ankle). Of the 13 goals, the Portuguese scored 6 in the Champions League, three of which were doubles, and 7 in Spain. It was a goal every 67 minutes.
Despite being ahead in absolute numbers, Mbappé played more games and played for longer. After scoring on his debut, he went three consecutive matches without scoring a goal, a period in which he himself recognized as worrying: “For many, three games without scoring may be nothing, but for me it means the world.”
Now with 14 goals, he is the top scorer of the team led by coach Carlo Ancelotti, alongside the Brazilian Vini Jr., but on average he needs 141 minutes to find the net against less than half of Cristiano Ronaldo.
